Colour Project & Project X’s top team members 2017
The Fellowship’s Colour Project & Project X teams recently came together for their finale night at the RUSH Academy in London, to put all they have learnt over 2017 into practice.
It’s arguably the biggest event of the year for the teams, as they showcase their new-found talents, creativity and confidence to their friends, families, employers and peers.
With 22 team members presenting, backstage was a chaotic whirlwind of models, make-up artists, stylists, hairdressers and mentors Chris Williams and Kai Wan on hand to guide the teams through their prep. Every member brought something different with their model, but all were equally as unique and creative, with a myriad of bright colours techniques, big, bold shapes and textures of every kind.
Every year, all students receive a diploma to certify completion of the initiative, but two hard-working students are awarded the big prizes of the evening; Project X’s Umberto Giannini Student of the Year and the Colour Project’s Achiever of the Year.
Ryan Steedman from Percy & Reed was awarded Project X’s Umberto Giannini Student of the Year for his progress and dedication. “Being a part of this year’s Project X team was the one thing I wanted to achieve this year,” says Ryan, “To know that I have now completed it and on top of that, have been awarded Student of the Year blows my mind! I have learnt so much this year and my team have helped me to grow. I have become a stronger hairdresser and now have the confidence to believe in my own vision. I can’t wait for the future!”
From the Colour Project, it was Nicola Dow from Urban Hair & Beauty who was awarded Achiever of the Year. “When my name was called out as the winner, I was in disbelief! I wasn’t expecting it, as every single member of the team has worked so hard this year. It’s been a fabulous year and I’ve loved learning to collaborate with other hairdressers on the same creative level and the collection we created was beautiful. I never thought at my age that I could say that I have trained with such big industry names, learning invaluable tips and techniques and making friends for life. I highly recommend any of the Fellowship initiatives to any hairdresser wanted to progress their career. It was a privilege to represent such a fantastic organisation!”
