Get The Katy Perry Look + Color Formula: Oscars’ Platinum Pixie By Rick Henry
Singer Katy Perry took her star-studded look to the red carpet at this year's Academy Awards, with Joico leading the way. Thanks to celebrity stylist Rick Henry of LA's famed Nine Zero One Salon, Katy's platinum LumiShine sensation caught plenty of post-show buzz.
The sensational Katy Perry has a rep for a) looking gorgeous, b) pushing the boundaries with edgy hair, makeup, and costumes, and c) being able to pull off almost any trend with aplomb. So when star colorist, Rick Henry, wanted to take her to platinum heights for her red carpet Oscar moment, she was all in. Good thing, too, because this shatteringly icy shade takes some gumption; once you nail it, though, your competition's toast.
The formula that made Katy Perry shine bright like a diamond:
● Rick used Blonde Life Lightening Powder with 20 volume LumiShine Developer on the roots, and let it process for 25 minutes.
● Next up was Blonde Life Lightening Powder with 10 volume LumiShine Developer on the ends, processed for 15 additional minutes.
● Now that the perfect pale blonde was in place, it was on to toning: ½ 10SB and Clear from LumiShine did the trick.
● K-PAK Color Therapy Luster Lock Instant Shine & Repair protected every vulnerable strand and bumped up the gleam beyond the pale.
When hair is this fair and this edgy, product becomes absolutely key. Rick prepped Katy's freshly-shampooed 'do with Blonde Life Brightening Veil to protect each strand from heat damage and keep the blonde bumped way up. Then after a blowdry, used Joico's Body Shake to throw in that perfect textured definition and volume. A bit of JoiMist Medium Finishing Spray and she was good to go for a whole round of parties. (And btw…those eyebrows? We're swooning.)

Inspired by the shades of the ocean, this hair trend continues to be on top. With a thousand shade of blue (but not only), it takes inspiration from the world of fairytales and evokes the colours of nature, from the blue of the ocean to the green of marine algae, passing through pale pink a pastel violet.
