ITVA. Happy Birthday!
The latest International Trend Vision Award offered a jam-packed programme of events.
More than 2,000 hairdressers from all over the world gathered together in Madrid to applaud talented youngsters competing for the award of the year (with 86 finalists from 50 foreign countries) and to see a sneak preview of the 2013 trends.
Hair guru Patrick Cameron presented a day full of professional initiatives by Wella Professionals. Shows, trends and awards were just the tip of the iceberg. Charity sponsorship was another important focus, as the company works with Unicef on the Making Waves project – Wella-Salon Division P&G General Manager, Sylvie Moreau, took centre-stage to speak about this undertaking. Following Brazil/Belem, Wella continues to contribute to the charity’s goals by establishing itself also in Romania, to offer professional training for youngsters.
The day started on stage with Kevin Otero, vice-president of Global Operations Salon Professional P&G, and Michelle Mason, Wella's Global Education Leader. Adil Mehboob-Khan, president of P&G Salon Professional and Global Wella Professional, once again pledged the company’s dedication to this educational event: “We will continue to invest in the Trend Vision Award. It’s an educational event that each country enjoys all year round, one which we totally believe in – we are sure that it contributes to the growth of this fabulous industry”.
The Madrid event also saw the launch of Illumina (presented by the Associate Director of P&G Salon Professional, Srebenkena Hanak, in a press conference the previous day). These two new colour products will be available at the beginning of next year. One in particular is set to radically change the life of salon colourists, thanks to a truly revolutionary new technique.....
Madrid’s 2012 Trend Vision Awards decorated China and Canada with medals. Two expert juries awarded the gold medal to Chinese hairdresser Zhangjian Wang (Wake up Salon), competing in the Young Talent category, and to Canadian Philip Ferreira, (Axis Salon), for Colour. Eugene Souleiman, Global Creative Director, said: “All the finalists in the Young Talent category gave awesome performances but Zhangjian Wang really stood head and shoulders above the rest.
The incredible skills and creative fantasy displayed by all entrants made the competition truly successful, with some sensational looks”. Regarding colour, Josh Wood, Global Creative Director, commented as follows: “Winner Philip Ferreira presented a particularly interesting look. All the participants gave unique innovative interpretations of the trend, with true synergy sparking between colouring and styling.”
The People’s Choice Award winners were nominated by the 2000-strong audience actually present at the event as well as viewers following the live streaming. The lucky winners were Tatsiana Krupskay (Joli Salon, Bielorussia) in the Young Talent category, and Lucian Busuioc (Artist Salon, Romania) for Colour.
One of the main themes in Madrid was “The Sound of Colour”. Riding the wave of new colour product Illumina (soon to hit the whole world), Wella Professionals focused the entire event on colour and its expressivity. The 2013 Trend Vision looks were also premiered – Fusion, Echo, Allegra and Decibel.
First pic, Dmitriy Vinokurov (Russia) who interpreted the Fusion trend, a merging of “East meets West”, with precise styling and dynamic bursts of colour.
Alexis Ferrer & Marcos (Spain) Leonardo turned to Echo for inspiration, creating experimental looks in pure black with varying chic sub-tones of the dark colour par excellence.
Cyrill Brune’s symphony (France) of colours for wonderful elegance and wacky styling à la Allegra trend.
The catwalk show continued, reaching a climax when the UK Sassoon Creative Team put on their breathtaking performance, Decibel, breaking all limits with a combination of strong colours and daring styles.
Following the Trend Vision fashion show and award ceremony, visitors were treated to the Parade of Nations Show, and the party went on into late evening with a surprise show dedicated to Sound of Colour
